In recent years, KCTM has recognized many other deserving mathematic award winners at the MESA banquet.  Due to this, in 2009 the MESA Banquet was renamed the:

KCTM Conference Awards Banquet

Each year, KCTM recognizes outstanding individuals in Mathematics Education Service and Achievement.

The MESA Award was created by KCTM and is designed to recognize outstanding mathematics teachers (K-16), education professionals (administrators, state department personnel, supervisors, etc.), and business and community leaders who have supported mathematics education.

You must be a KCTM member to make a MESA nomination.  (KCTM membership is only $15.  Visit here to become a member.)  A committee will screen the nominations, make final selections, and then notify nominators and recipients of the award.  The MESA awardees receive a certificate, presented to them by their nominator at the KCTM Conference Awards Banquet that precedes the KCTM Annual Conference.  This very special evening is rich in emotion and pride in accomplishments in mathematics education.
